Chapter 7 Testing
Chapter 7 Testing
Chen Hongzhi glared at Lu Lin, and was about to speak when he noticed out of the corner of his eye that the maids at the moon gate had all puffed out their chests.
"Hey, who's here?"
Before he could finish speaking, a middle-aged man with a large belly walked in.
Behind him followed a beautifully dressed, slender young woman.
"Madam, I will be going to Qinbei City in a few days. I'll leave the household affairs to you."
"Master, don't be so polite with me. Rest assured, I will definitely supervise the children's cultivation."
The visitors were none other than Chen Dingkun, the eldest patriarch of the Chen family, and his wife, Madam Zheng.
Chen Dingkun chuckled, his gaze sweeping across the training ground, before suddenly frowning.
"Huh? Why is only the fourth brother here? Where are the other three?"
Chen Dingkun, having long held a high position, usually appeared cheerful and harmless, but this furrowed brow immediately made the maids around him tense.
"Master," Madam Zheng said sweetly, clinging to Chen Dingkun, "Master, Hongyu went to the county town on business, and Hongming and Hongjie are going to stay with my father for a few days. Don't worry, they won't neglect their martial arts training."
"Oh, I see."
Chen Dingkun's expression softened, and he beckoned to Chen Hongzhi.
Chen Hongzhi immediately jogged over, "Dad."
"Well, fourth brother, how's your cultivation going this past month?"
"No problem, I'm doing great in my training!"
"good?"
Chen Hongzhi looked excited.
But in Chen Dingkun's eyes, what he saw was a man covered in sweat, panting heavily, with weak legs and unable to stand steadily. Rather than practicing martial arts, he looked like he had just come out of the Qingyan Tower.
Chen Dingkun grabbed Chen Hongzhi's arm. "Hmph, you even dare to deceive me!"
"Lie? Father, I've been getting up early and going to bed late every day, practicing until the wee hours of the morning. I haven't had a single day to relax. How am I lying to you?"
Chen Hongzhi's eyes widened.
Seeing his stubborn refusal, Chen Dingkun lost his temper. "Fine, didn't you say you practiced hard every day? Come on, Master Liu, could you please weigh this kid for me?"
Chen Dingkun turned around and waved to the outside of Chongyue Gate.
A lean young man ran quickly to his side, bowed, and asked, "What are your orders, Master Chen?"
"Master Liu, my son is two years younger than you, but he never tells the truth. You are Mr. Hou's disciple, so please take a look and see if he is practicing martial arts diligently every day."
"this……"
The boy's name was Liu Cheng. He had just been promoted to a skin-refining martial artist and was sent by Mr. Hou to train alongside Chen Dingkun.
In terms of interpersonal skills, they are naturally not as good as some seasoned veterans.
Immediately, Liu Cheng rolled up his sleeves, cracked his knuckles, and said, "Don't worry, Mr. Chen, leave this little matter to me."
Liu Cheng faced Chen Hongzhi, cupped his hands in greeting, and said, "Please enlighten me, Fourth Young Master."
Chen Hongzhi wouldn't tolerate such sycophants and immediately said, "No way!"
Ok?
Chen Dingkun and Liu Cheng were both taken aback.
Before the two could speak, Chen Hongzhi interjected, "I just finished my morning training and I'm completely exhausted. Right now, I can barely walk, let alone fight."
"However, Father, please don't rush, let me finish what I have to say."
"Testing my skills is easy. Look, do you see Lu Lin? He's my sparring partner, and his skill level is slightly inferior to mine."
"Master Liu, if you can make Lu Lin scream in pain, then it means that my training these days has not been up to par."
"If not, Dad, then you'll have to invite Mr. Hou to give me another lesson."
Lu Lin?
Chen Dingkun and Liu Cheng turned to look and saw that Lu Lin was of medium height and not particularly muscular. Judging from his appearance, it was clear that Chen Hongzhi hadn't been cultivating properly lately.
"Ha, you little brat, you still want Mr. Hou to tutor you? Do you know how much your father has to pay every time he comes?"
"That's a powerhouse at the Five Organs level."
Chen Dingkun looked at Liu Cheng tentatively, "Master Liu, what do you think?"
Liu Cheng straightened his back. "Since Fourth Young Master is so willing, then I will accompany that brother for a few moves."
Since Liu Cheng started following Chen Dingkun, he hasn't had a chance to make a move in the past two weeks.
Today is the perfect day, with all the right timing, location, and people. As long as Lu Lin is defeated, Chen Dingkun will naturally regard him as an ally, and he will certainly receive many benefits in return.
Chen Hongzhi also came over to explain to Lu Lin.
"Lu Lin, brother, please, you absolutely have to help me with this."
"Fourth Young Master, this..."
Lu Lin couldn't understand why, when the purpose was clearly to test Chen Hongzhi's skills, he ended up having to fight in the arena.
Seeing Lu Lin's expression, Chen Hongzhi knew there was a chance. "Lu Lin, didn't you want to move out with your brother? I happen to have a small courtyard here. I was thinking of staying there for a while when I have some free time. If you can help me beat this guy, I'll give you my little courtyard."
"really?"
"It's true! I, Chen Hongzhi, keep my word. Besides, that courtyard isn't outside the city; it's just two streets away from our house. It's secluded, quiet, and the surrounding environment is peaceful. It definitely won't affect Shi Tou."
"good!"
The houses in Jinshan Mansion are quite expensive, and even renting them out is costly.
Since Chen Hongzhi was willing to spend so much, Lu Lin no longer hesitated.
The two stood face to face.
Both sides clasped their hands in a fist salute.
Liu Cheng gestured for Lu Lin to make the first move, but Lu Lin shook his head.
He had only been practicing martial arts for a little over a month and only knew the Golden Bell Cover technique.
His strength lies in defense, followed by counter-attacks and preemptive strikes, which is not Lu Lin's style.
Seeing this, Liu Cheng did not hesitate and immediately struck Lu Lin with a palm.
"not good!"
A sudden sense of unease arose in Lu Lin's mind.
He assumed the other party was an ordinary martial artist.
Unexpectedly, the palm strike was fierce, seemingly about to split his head open.
Lu Lin dared not take the attack head-on and turned to dodge.
But Liu Cheng was faster.
He stepped forward, changing his chopping motion to a slicing motion, aiming directly for Lu Lin's eyes.
Lu Lin had no time to dodge and could only raise his hand to block.
boom.
Lu Lin took a half step back, blocking Liu Cheng's attack.
Liu Cheng, on the other side, felt a sudden tightness in his chest.
A jolt ran through my palm, followed by a numbness.
This doesn't hurt this much; it's like being slashed on a wall.
"Go Lu Lin!"
Chen Hongzhi couldn't help but cheer.
This also angered Liu Cheng.
He's a martial artist, a skin-refining martial artist.
Lu Lin is just an ordinary sparring partner, a bit tough and thick-skinned, and you think you can ruin his future?
Damn!
Liu Cheng became ruthless and pressed down on him again.
Lu Lin blocked one attack, but didn't feel that Liu Cheng was particularly strong.
That palm strike was only slightly stronger than Chen Hongzhi's usual strength, and it was even weaker than the previous strikes from Chen Hongming and Chen Hongjie.
That being the case.
Lu Lin chuckled.
"Then don't blame me for using you to level up my proficiency."
"After all, the next floor costs a full 50,000."
Both had their own agendas, and the scene suddenly became lively.
Lu Lin dodged and blocked.
Liu Cheng pursued relentlessly.
Chen Dingkun was not a martial artist and could not discern the strength of the two men, but he felt that Liu Cheng and Lu Lin seemed to have a tacit understanding.
When you strike with your palm, I block it with my shoulder.
If you kick me, I just need to dodge to the side.
Liu Cheng attacked with incredible ferocity.
Lu Lin's defense was impenetrable.
So, you two are working together to put on an act for me?
