Chapter 143 Dawn Arrives
The undead, as the core target, felt a deadly threat.
He roared, frantically pouring his remaining magic into the [Whispers of the Dead] wand in his hand, causing the wand to burst forth with an unprecedented gray light.
Instantly, countless white bones gathered around him, protecting him layer by layer. He attempted to use the [Bone Barrier] to resist the judgment of the stars.
The starlight instantly melted away the surface of the bones, but more bones immediately filled the gaps, and for a time, they actually withstood the attack of the starlight.
Just as the starlight gradually faded, the Necromancer was secretly pleased, thinking that he had blocked the starlight.
A subtle yet incredibly clear cracking sound rang out.
The strange magic wand, pieced together from several finger bones, suddenly developed a tiny crack under the impact of the star's power.
The wand was damaged, and the Bone Barrier instantly dissipated. The Necromancer absorbed the aftershocks of the starlight with its physical body.
Even though it was just a weak aftershock, it instantly weakened the aura of death surrounding him by more than half, clearly indicating that he had suffered extremely serious injuries.
This destructive force, however, appeared remarkably gentle when it swept over the law enforcement officers below.
The remaining deathly aura on Olivia's scales was also completely purified by it.
"puff!"
The backlash from forcibly activating the [Eternal Star Chart] caused Selena to cough up a mouthful of blood, her face instantly losing all color, and the star chart light in her eyes dissipated.
Her body went limp and she collapsed to the ground, already in a deep coma.
Carlos quickly used the vines to pull her to his side and gave her the potion. Selena's originally pale face gradually regained its color, but she still showed no signs of waking up.
"Selena!" Gorman's eyes widened in fury, his anger instantly reaching its peak.
The Necromancer was trembling with fear, his face filled with disbelief and utter despair.
His greatest reliance, the Whispers of the Dead, has been lost.
The [Bone King] summoned using the Death God's status was destroyed.
The berserk monster horde, which had been spawned over several years at great cost, was wiped out in one fell swoop.
Even the team responsible for providing backup, including Shadow, was reduced to ashes.
Lelita's profound knowledge and the power of the [Eternal Star Chart] completely shattered his arrogance.
"Your turn, old ghost."
Gorman roared, and the flames around him were no longer dark red, but turned into pure blazing white. The temperature was so high that even the surrounding starry sky seemed to be distorted.
Level 5 spell: White Flame Hell!
Endless pure white flames instantly engulfed the [Undead].
Although the [Whispers of the Dead] wand in his hand emitted a strong gray light to resist, it did not last long before shattering completely.
"Ah!" A heart-wrenching scream rang out.
As the white flames swept past, the necromancer's black robe instantly vaporized, and his right arm holding the staff, along with the eerie bone staff, turned to ashes in the flames.
Next came his legs, which were carbonized and shattered under the extreme heat.
In the blink of an eye, the once arrogant undead was reduced to a charred torso and head, its life force utterly depleted.
Carlos immediately waved his vine wand, and several supple vines flew out, binding the mangled body tightly. He quickly flew closer, took out a vial of potion, and forcibly pried open the man's mouth, pouring it into his mouth.
Upon ingesting the potion, the horrific burns on the undead's torso stopped worsening. A strange life force forcefully kept him alive until his last breath, preventing him from dying, but also completely depriving him of any ability to resist.
"Hmph, want to die? Not so easy. Attacking Lelita, coveting the Primal Flame, what exactly are you trying to do? I'll pry your mouth open."
Carlos's tone was icy, a stark contrast to his usual gentle demeanor.
Gorman then walked towards the spot where the [Necromancer] had been.
He rummaged through a pile of black ash and pulled out a small section of jet-black finger bone, carefully placing it into a small box covered with runes.
The battle within the Eternal Star Chart is finally drawing to a close.
The starry sky slowly dissipated, and everyone's vision shifted again, returning to the devastated Shouwang Cemetery.
After a night of fighting, the sun finally rose above the horizon, its warm rays bathing the exhausted crowd.
Li Ang lowered his broom, looking at the undead bound by vines and reduced to mangled remains, then at the unconscious Selena being carefully held by the Carlos faction leader, and finally at his teammates who, though disheveled, were all unharmed.
Finally, his gaze fell on Olivia, who bore the marks of her injuries, yet whose dragon eyes held a hint of triumphant pride.
Although the night was incredibly intense and long, they ultimately succeeded in defending the Wizard Tower.
The Carlos faction leader held the unconscious Selena faction leader in his arms, his gentle gaze sweeping across the entire room.
"Children, you did a great job. You are worthy of the name of the enforcement team. Tonight, you upheld the dignity of Lelita."
His voice had a calming power, which made the team members relax their tense nerves a little.
The leader of Gorman's faction glanced around and saw that there were no casualties.
His gaze then fell back on the undead, which was tightly bound by vines and was now just a mangled body. He said, "Go back and rest first. We will notify you of the follow-up matters later."
He then exchanged a glance with Carlos, and the two faction leaders vanished from the spot with the Necromancer and Selena.
The atmosphere became more lively as soon as the faction leader left.
All eyes were drawn involuntarily to the most striking figure in the arena: the scarred yet still proudly standing dark red dragon.
Sandramea was the first to rush forward. She stood before the enormous dragon head, looking up, her emerald eyes gleaming with undisguised admiration and gratitude: "Olivia, thanks to you this time, I, the princess, admit that you are a more remarkable warrior than I am. Your body protected us."
Ludick mustered his courage, adjusted his crooked glasses, and said in a slightly trembling but exceptionally sincere voice, "Thank you, Miss Olivia. If it weren't for you holding off those monsters, we probably would have—"
Helena stood a little distance away, looking at the shocking scars on Olivia's scales, her eyes filled with heartache and gratitude, and whispered, "Thank you for protecting us all."
The other team members were unfamiliar with the suddenly appearing red dragon, and even felt a sense of instinctive fear.
But when they thought of the berserk monsters that had surged like a tidal wave, they realized that if this giant dragon hadn't formed a barrier with its body, they would probably have suffered heavy losses this time.
Gratitude overcame fear, and they all gathered around, their words of thanks echoing around Olivia.
"Thank you, Lord Dragon."
Thank you so much!
"You are our hero!"
Hearing the cacophony of thanks around her, Olivia's enormous vertical pupils shifted slightly.
She could sense the sincerity in those words.
This feeling of being needed and appreciated was completely different from the feeling of being disliked and alienated in her daily life.
