Chapter 46 A Fateful Gaze
Chapter 46 A Fateful Gaze
"Goblin?!?"
The shouts of the gray-robed guards echoed through the corridor.
Oh no, we're doomed! Weren't we supposed to go to a brothel for a couple of rounds?
"You two are moving way too fast! Is it really that slow?!" Gebu complained.
Before the goblin could react, the two grey-robed guards drew their short swords, one blocking the stone door and the other rushing forward.
Hearing the guards' shouts, hurried footsteps came from the stairwell leading to the upper floor.
Are the old lady and the witch hunter coming too?
Gebu was trapped in a small room, with both exits blocked.
What to do?!
Gebu's little mind raced; there was nowhere to go! The room was only so big, with hardly any room to maneuver.
Looking at those two people, I realized that swords and blades have no eyes; they weren't just trying to capture me, they were trying to kill me!
The guards were about to rush towards Geb—the little goblin panicked, stretched out his hand, and quickly chanted a spell.
Big Eyes, help me hold them off!
The guard was about to strike when suddenly everything went black! A sticky substance fell from the sky, landing right on his head and obscuring his eyes.
The guy guarding the door was stunned for a moment when he saw his companion being smeared with toads, then he rushed in to help.
This can only buy us a little time; there's no future in going head-to-head with two humans!
Gebu's eyes darted around; that was the only option left.
Roller!
While the man and his magical pet were entangled, Gebu frantically opened his dimensional bag and rummaged through it. Where was the magic scroll?!
The bag was too full, and for a moment, Gebu couldn't find what he was looking for.
"Take that thing off my face!"
The guard, his face covered in grease, grabbed the toad by the back. The little thing was oily and slippery, sticking to the gray-robed man's face like a piece of chewing gum. The man used both hands to pull and tug, distorting the skin of his face.
The guards who caught up grabbed the man's shoulders and shouted, "Don't move!"
"I freaking... ugh!"
The man whose face was smeared opened his mouth to speak, and the toad seized the opportunity, sticking out its long tongue and shoving it into the man's throat.
"Yue——"
The guard was given a deep throat kiss by the toad, which went straight to his stomach—his stomach churned instantly.
The other guard was stunned. It took him a few seconds to react. He tried to pull it off, but couldn't. In desperation, he used the hilt of his short sword to strike Big Eye!
The toad suddenly leaped to the ground, and the wooden handle slammed hard into the gray-robed man's nose.
"Ouch!"
The person in front of him stumbled, covered his nose, and bumped into the wooden frame behind him. The frame collapsed with a crash, and miscellaneous items were scattered all over the ground.
The other guard didn't have time to pay attention to him and rushed towards Gebu!
In those few seconds, Geb turned his pockets inside out, and his fingers finally touched the magic scroll.
He swiftly pulled out the scroll—but before he could even unroll it, a large human hand grabbed his clothes!
The guard grabbed the goblin by the collar with one hand and gripped his short sword with the other, aiming to stab the goblin through the stomach.
I'll bite his mother!
"Awoo!"
With all its might, Geb bit down hard on the guard's wrist, its sharp teeth piercing the flesh, and a fishy, astringent taste instantly spread through the goblin's mouth.
"Ouch! Ouch! Ouch!" The guard's hand trembled, and he subconsciously released the goblin.
He clutched his wrist—a bloody, gaping tooth mark where the flesh was torn open.
The guard stared wide-eyed at the little goblin in front of him, annoyed.
Gebu had a mouthful of sharp, red teeth, and he bared his teeth and breathed at the man.
The man was about to come up again, so Gebu turned and ran to the side!
The guard reacted instantly, sticking out his foot and tripping the goblin—Gob fell forward, his dimensional bag opened, and a bunch of things spilled out… a scroll!
Geb watched as the magic scroll rolled on the ground, unfurled, and revealed runes, with flowing ether surging within it.
"You little beast!" The guard stepped forward, raised his sword, and slashed down!
The goblin lunged forward, grabbed the scroll, and blurted out:
"Vocare Nebula!!!"
It has to succeed!!!
Geb felt a strange tremor within his body, as if ether was dancing in his blood vessels... It gathered at the goblin's fingertips, charging up, and then suddenly erupted!
call!
The symbols on the magic scroll suddenly erupted—a surge of magical energy escaped from the paper, followed by a gush of white mist.
The magical white mist rushed towards the guard's face like a mudslide. The man couldn't open his eyes immediately; the white mist flooded his mouth and nostrils, making it impossible for him to breathe.
"Cough...Ptooey...Ptooey!" The man used his hand to block the air.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, Gebu ducked and rolled away, hiding in the rapidly spreading white mist.
Within three seconds, the entire room was shrouded in thick fog, so thick that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.
so close!
Gebu took a deep breath—the fog was so thick it was suffocating, and he held his breath in his lungs, trying to stop himself from coughing.
Gebushi couldn't see either, so he could only guess the positions of the two guards by sound.
The sound of weapons swinging came from the direction of the guard—he struck empty air. At the same time, the sound of someone struggling to get up came from the direction of the fallen shelf. A clatter of debris followed.
Footsteps!
Slash! Metal clashed with metal, producing a piercing scraping sound—and sparks flew in a blur.
"It's me! Don't cut me!" came the voice of the guard whose face had just been smeared with white mist.
"Where are the goblins?"
"Door, go lock the door, don't let him get away!" the guard shouted.
Oh, right, the door!
Geb guessed the location of the door, and he heard the guards' footsteps making a ruckus inside—
Something slammed against the wall with a bang.
"...Of***ing Buck!" the guard cursed.
Like the two humans, Gebushi was also blind. He chose a direction and moved forward quietly. In less than three seconds, his hand touched the warehouse wall.
Once you touch the wall, you've found your direction... at least you won't be going around in circles.
Following the wall, he guessed and groped his way toward the door.
Two gray-robed guards stumbled and staggered through the white mist, bumping around like headless flies, the sounds of things being knocked over echoing throughout the room.
The insults continued unabated.
Judging from the sounds, there was one guard in front of him and another behind him.
Gebu took an empty potion bottle out of his dimensional bag and threw it in the direction opposite the door.
Clap!
"Who's there!" shouted the guard in front of him, then footsteps rushed toward the sound of the bottle.
There is a chance.
Like a lizard, Gebu crawled along the wall towards the door, using all four legs.
Just as he was about to touch the door frame, a voice suddenly appeared in the white mist.
"What happened here?" The man's voice was dry and hoarse, as if it had been sanded on sandpaper.
Gebu realized that the person must have come down the stairs—that old man in black with a bitter and resentful expression.
This guy looked intimidating, so Gebu didn't dare to move and squatted in place, trying not to make any noise—his face was turning purple from holding it in.
"Magic! White mist!" the guard shouted to the newcomer.
The newcomer didn't waste any words. Gebu pricked up his ears and heard the sound of some kind of mechanism being triggered.
Tap, tap tap tap, a metal object bounces and rolls on the ground.
then,
boom!
A crisp sound!
Silver powder erupted from the center of the house, creating a shockwave! The magical mist was blown away by the strong wind and dissipated and sublimated the moment it came into contact with the silver dust.
Geb was slammed against the wall by the sudden shockwave and slid to the ground. His dimensional bag fell beside him, revealing a gap through which the golden cover of the Book of Sand was faintly visible.
"Cough...cough!" Gebu shook his head. In his vision, silver dust drifted down, and the white mist created by the magic scroll was dissolving at a visible speed—
What is this...? The ether is avoiding these silvery metals...
Could this thing dispel magic?
Magic-suppressing... a grenade?
Through the dissipating mist, the goblin and the witch hunter locked eyes.
The man in black had a terrifying gaze! He stared intently at him, like a centipede that had crawled into Gebu's eyes and clung to his mind, impossible to shake off.
The vulture's gaze shifted from the goblin's face to the dimensional bag in his arms—he caught a glimpse of the Golden Book.
The witch hunter's expression changed drastically. The man drew his longsword from his back and pointed it at Geb.
"Goblins! Hand over the Book of Sand!"
The witch hunter vulture roared menacingly!
Gebu then realized what was happening, grabbed the dimensional bag, flipped over, pulled the switch on the stone door, and darted out before it closed!
