Chapter 59 Sugar Blowing
Chapter 59 Sugar Blowing
Even in loose, colorful clothes, her chest still revealed a breathtaking curve, and there were far more men than children surrounding her stall.
Zhao Ming's face flushed red instantly, and she quickly lowered her head, not daring to look any further.
Huang Shujian also noticed it.
The woman's appearance was only above average, but her figure was indeed... exceptionally gifted.
With practiced skill, she chatted and laughed with the men watching as she deftly shaped the heated syrup into various forms.
A little boy with a runny nose was held firmly by his father in the queue.
The little boy stared longingly at the bright red candied hawthorns on the stall next door, trying to run over several times, but his father pulled him back each time.
It was finally the turn of this father and son.
The man stared intently at the female stall owner, his voice rising an octave: "Two sugar figurines, please! Big ones! As big as you!"
The female stall owner looked up at him, not angry at all, but instead smiled and said in a clear voice, "Don't worry, it's not only bigger than mine! It's even bigger than yours!"
The people queuing around immediately burst into laughter.
The man laughed along, teasingly asking, "How do you know how big mine is? Have you ever blown it up?"
Another burst of laughter followed.
The female stall owner just smiled and shook her head, then quickly blew out two adorable little pig sugar figurines and handed them to the little boy.
The man reached out to take it, and took the opportunity to touch the back of the female stall owner's hand.
The female vendor reacted quickly, pulling her hand back and stuffing the sugar figurine into the little boy's hand.
She then bent down and patted the head of the snotty-nosed little boy next to her, saying softly, "Little brother, you're sweet."
The little boy took the two pig-shaped sugar figurines and curiously licked one.
The sweet taste made him instantly forget about the candied hawthorn, and he laughed happily, his snot running down his face, which he then sucked back in with a "slurp".
Xiuer had already dragged Zhao Ming, whose face was flushed, to buy candied hawthorns.
Huang Shujian stood still, his gaze passing over the bustling crowd and landing on two other figures not far away.
Lu Yu and Murong Xue.
The two were still wearing the same white shirts and blue skirts they had worn during the day, with white knee-high socks and black leather shoes, making them quite conspicuous in the crowd.
Murong Xue quickly spotted Huang Shujian, a smile immediately spreading across her face. She waved to him from afar, then, pulling the sullen Lu Yu along, they walked confidently through the crowd.
"Young Master Huang! You've arrived too? You're quite punctual!" Murong Xue walked up to him, her tone familiar.
Lu Yu simply lowered his head and nodded, as if to say hello.
"Okay," Huang Shujian replied. "Shall we go in together?"
The five of them entered the Apricot Pear Garden. Murong Xue waved the theater ticket in her hand, then looked down at the ticket stub, searching for her seat number.
"Hmm... Section A, Row 3... Number 7, Number 8..."
She wasn't familiar with the seating arrangement inside Xingliyuan and spent a while looking around, feeling a bit confused.
Just then, she saw a worker from the apricot and pear orchard hurrying by, and she quickly reached out to stop him: "Excuse me, sir, how do I get to the third row of the Jia section?"
The shopkeeper was so busy he barely had time to breathe when he was suddenly stopped. A hint of impatience flashed across his face, and he was about to wave his hand and say he didn't know. But his gaze inadvertently fell on Huang Shujian standing behind Murong Xue.
The waiter's impatience vanished instantly, replaced by a respectful smile, and he even bowed low.
"Young Master Huang! You've arrived! Your seat has been reserved for you!"
"The best private box, number one on the second floor, facing the stage, is ready with tea and snacks! I'll take you there right away!"
Murong Xue's hand, holding the theater ticket, froze in mid-air.
She blinked her big eyes, looked at the smiling waiter, then at the calm Huang Shujian, a hint of surprise on her face, which quickly turned into a mischievous smile.
She withdrew her hand, stuffed the theater ticket back into her small cloth bag, and made an exaggerated helpless expression at Huang Shujian.
"So... all that effort I spent trying to buy tickets was completely useless."
"Young Master Huang is watching a play in Goose City, he doesn't need this."
The waiter led the group up the wooden stairs to the second floor.
The second floor is relatively quiet, with a corridor covered with a red carpet, and private boxes located near the stage.
Box No. 1 is located in the very center, directly facing the stage.
Before I even reached the door, I heard a commotion.
"Get out of the way! I'm insisting on getting into this private room today! It's empty anyway, why can't I come in?"
"Young Master Ba...this...this is unacceptable, we dare not make this decision..."
"Hmph! Even the King of Heaven himself has arrived! This young master is definitely getting into this private room today! How much? Name your price!"
It's the entrance to the No. 1 private room.
Ba Qing, accompanied by two guards, was blocking the way.
He spoke with a slight lisp, his voice sounding muffled, but he had a very strong presence.
He pointed at the several apricot orchard workers blocking the entrance, his face full of impatience and arrogance.
Several men, sweating profusely, stood in front of the door, bowing and pleading, but dared not actually stop them.
"Pfft—"
Xiuer walked behind Huang Shujian and couldn't help but laugh out loud.
Ba Qing's two front teeth were missing, causing him to speak with a lisp. Coupled with his furious face, he looked quite comical.
The laughter was particularly clear in the relatively quiet second-floor corridor.
Ba Qing's reprimand came to an abrupt halt.
He turned his head sharply, and the anger on his face froze instantly upon seeing Huang Shujian, as if doused with a bucket of ice water. It then turned into astonishment, followed by resentment, and finally into an undisguised sense of apprehension and a hint of fear.
Huang Shujian led a few people and walked over at a leisurely pace.
"This private room is mine." Huang Shujian stopped in front of Ba Qing, his tone calm. "Even the King of Heaven himself isn't here, but I am."
Ba Qing opened his mouth, wanting to say something harsh, but his teeth were loose, making him feel even more embarrassed.
Looking into Huang Shujian's calm eyes, he recalled the kick he received on the street that day, and the burning pain on his face seemed to return.
He felt a surge of anger burning in his chest, but dared not let it out.
The stalemate lasted for a few breaths.
Finally, Ba Qing angrily flicked his sleeve and uttered through gritted teeth, "Let's go!"
After saying that, he turned around with his guards, looking dejected, and headed to the adjacent VIP room number two, slamming the door shut.
Several waiters quickly wiped their sweat, thanked Huang Shujian profusely, and then respectfully opened the door to the No. 1 private room.
Huang Shujian and his group went inside.
The private room was quite spacious, with a row of carved wooden windows facing the stage, all of which were now open, offering an excellent view.
Inside, there was a round table and several chairs, on which hot tea, dried fruit, and several delicate snacks were already prepared.
Murong Xue sat down at the table, looking at Huang Shujian with a mischievous smile: "It seems that in Goose City, Young Master Huang's influence is more effective than that of the Emperor himself."
Lu Yu sat down next to her, and upon hearing this, he merely curled his lip in disdain, his gaze fixed on the bustling stage outside the window.
Huang Shujian sat down in the main seat, and Xiu'er immediately stepped forward, took out a few slices of ginseng from her small bag, put them into his teacup, and then picked up the teapot to brew it.
Huang Shujian picked up his teacup, blew on it to cool it down, and looked out the window.
The stage was brightly lit.
The drum and gong troupe was already in place, playing a lively prelude to set the mood for the event.
The audience seats were almost full, filled with a lively and expectant atmosphere.
Soon, the juggling performance officially began.
