Chapter 1595 - 1597: We Stand Upright and Walk Straight
Yang Dong left just like that, driving the carriage.
But Li Chuntao sitting in the carriage was no longer smiling.
Because she had heard a piece of news: Yang Dong was going to have dinner at Yang Xiaocui’s house tonight.
Why did the aunt next door suddenly invite Yang Dong to dinner at her house?
Yang Dong actually agreed? Are the two of them about to have some good thing happen?
No way! The two of them absolutely cannot be together. That Yang Xiaocui is not a good girl; her mind is too devious, Yang Dong cannot marry someone like her.
Li Chuntao felt she might be running out of time and wouldn’t be able to expose Yang Xiaocui’s true face.
What should she do?
Just as she was worried, she heard Yang Dong say, "Aunt Lan Hua invited me over for dinner, saying she wants to thank me for helping their family during the busy farming season."
Li Chuntao didn’t expect Yang Dong to explain to her why he was going to have dinner, but his words did make her feel slightly better. If it’s really like this, perhaps she still has time.
But is it really just to have dinner?
She couldn’t help but feel worried. Although she knew Yang Dong wouldn’t listen to her, perhaps she said something she shouldn’t have. Still, she couldn’t help but remind him, "Oh, I feel that aunt might be asking for a favor if she’s inviting you to dinner."
Yang Dong didn’t find anything inappropriate in Li Chuntao’s reminder; he actually thought Li Chuntao meant well. In fact, he agreed to have dinner because he wanted to see what tricks they might be up to. Moreover, he wanted to test Yang Xiaocui a little.
"Thanks, I’ll pay attention."
Yang Dong didn’t go home directly but first drove the carriage to the gate of Hope Academy, helping Li Chuntao carry her things into the yard.
As he came out, he saw Aunt Lan Hua next door.
Aunt Lan Hua saw Li Chuntao returning on Yang Dong’s carriage and also saw him helping her carry things into the yard. She grew restless; her little daughter said that Li Chuntao next door was interested in Yang Dong, so she waited at the door.
Seeing Yang Dong come out, she started speaking, "Yang Dong, what are you doing?"
Seeing Aunt Lan Hua, Yang Dong replied, "Aunt Lan Hua, I happened to run into Miss Li while going to town today; she couldn’t find a ride back, so I gave her a lift."
Aunt Lan Hua’s sharp eyes stared at Yang Dong, "Yang Dong, don’t blame me for speaking out of turn, but you and my Xiaocui are already betrothed. You should keep a distance and avoid gossip; if the villagers see and start gossiping, what about my Xiaocui?"
At Aunt Lan Hua’s reminder, Yang Dong felt slightly displeased, "As long as you don’t gossip, no one else will gossip. We stand upright and walk straight."
Yang Dong turned his head and got into the carriage, ready to drive home.
Yang Dong’s attitude left Aunt Lan Hua feeling embarrassed. She thought Yang Dong could be quite cooperative sometimes, and other times he’s a stubborn mule, really hard to deal with. Big things are planned for tonight; she can’t afford to upset this stubborn mule.
If she upsets him, what if he doesn’t come?
She hurriedly said, "I’m saying this for your good. Since you say that, I certainly believe you. Don’t forget, you must come tonight."
"Got it, I’ll come over tonight," Yang Dong said this and then swung the whip, causing the horse to kick its front hooves twice.
Aunt Lan Hua was standing in front of the horse and was startled by its movements, quickly stepping aside, and watched as Yang Dong’s carriage drove away.
