Chapter 53 The Relics and Plans of a Level 3 Archmage
Chapter 53 The Relics and Plans of a Level 3 Archmage
Watching Kellon's disheveled figure leave, Hick remained expressionless, his eyes calm and unwavering, making it impossible to discern any trace of his inner thoughts.
"These 'works' are good."
Mentor Perot's gaze swept over the transformed and revitalized apprentices, a hint of genuine admiration flashing in his eyes.
"Very insightful. It seems you've been studying my manual diligently these past few days."
"The mentor's handbook is profound and comprehensive."
Hick responded respectfully, his demeanor impeccable.
"Many of the students' questions became clear after consulting their tutor's handbook."
"Hmm," Professor Perot nodded slightly, "Continue your 'creation.' See me on the top floor in three days."
He paused, his gaze sweeping over Hick: "Keep that 'Curse of Frost.' Consider it Chiron's 'apology.'"
As soon as she finished speaking, Perot's figure seemed to merge into the air, disappearing without a trace.
Along with it, the handbook also left.
"Respectfully seeing off our mentor!"
Hick bowed respectfully, but his heart was churning with emotions.
The arrogance and conceit born from his sudden surge in strength cooled and subsided instantly when he faced Mochamona's unfathomable pressure and Mentor Pero's profoundness, as if doused with ice water.
His so-called strength was as laughable as an ant in front of these two. With just a thought from them, he would be torn to pieces!
At the same time, a thought came to mind:
"What important matter could it be that requires a Level 2 wizard to personally intervene, or even possibly the Level 3 Archmage Mochamo?"
This kind of vortex... I'm just a lowly apprentice, I shouldn't be... drawn into it, right?
A sense of unease crept into my heart.
"Boss Hick, this..."
Kurt's cautious voice broke the silence as he held the "Curse of Frost" that emanated a chilling aura in his hands, offering a reminder.
Hick snapped out of his daze, his gaze falling on the ring. Without saying a word, he casually put it into his spatial ring.
A half-magical artifact?
What might be a trump card in the eyes of an ordinary third-level apprentice is nothing more than ordinary to Hick, who now dares to challenge formal wizards.
His gaze sharpened again, sweeping over the group of apprentices in the corridor, who were still bewildered and waiting blankly after the dramatic turn of events. His voice, clear and powerful, pierced through the oppressive air:
"The renovation continues!"
After saying that, he didn't linger and turned to step into the laboratory through the newly closed metal door.
"Are they all deaf?! The rehabilitation continues!"
Kurt immediately understood, and shouted sharply, his eyes scanning the list like lightning, "Next..."
Three days later, at the top floor of the Wizard Tower.
"tutor!"
Hick stood respectfully in the top-floor hall, bowing his head.
"You're very good, Hick, and you've also surprised me quite a bit."
Professor Perot, seated on his high seat, looked at Hick below the stage with a relaxed expression, his tone carrying a hint of admiration.
"As a wizard, I find it hard to believe that you chose to report a treasure that seemed so easily within your grasp instead of keeping it for yourself. To be honest, I didn't think you were a qualified wizard at the time."
Hearing Professor Pelosi's words, Hick's heart tightened. Before he could defend himself, Professor Pelosi continued:
"But your subsequent behavior was indeed very wizardly-like: cautious, cruel, ruthless, with no bottom line when it came to experimental subjects, and full of a thirst for truth. Hick, that's very good."
After hearing what his mentor, Perot, said with a sigh of relief, Hick quickly replied:
"It was only by following my mentor for the past three years that I came to understand some of the characteristics of a wizard, and I am now moving closer to those characteristics."
Professor Pelosi was clearly satisfied with Hick's performance, nodding before changing the subject and saying:
"Do you know why I called you over today?"
Hick looked bewildered.
Professor Pelosi chuckled and slowly said:
"Hehe, did you know that Klar's ring contains the complete legacy of a third-level archmage?"
"Level three... Level three archmage?"
Hick stammered, he never expected this! He knew that Klar was not simple, but he never expected him to be this complicated!
He had thought that even if that Clara was lucky, he would only receive the legacy of a second-level wizard, how could he be a third-level archmage?
"Surprised? I was surprised too. He was an extremely powerful level three fire-type archmage. The previous Lord of Silence died at his hands."
Before Hick could recover, another remark from his mentor, Perot, left Hick's brain momentarily blank.
Kill... the previous Lord of Silence, a level three fire-type archmage?
"Ever since the previous Lord of Silence died at that person's hands, one of our Silent Forest's most important magical artifacts has disappeared, and now..."
Professor Pelosi ignored Hick, who was now at a loss for words, and continued:
"I've found a clue! That's why I came to you."
Shocked by the series of news reports, Hick was also confused when he heard this.
"Me? Professor, how can I help?"
Professor Pelosi looked at Hick, a smile playing on her lips, and said, "Yes! It's you!"
He continued:
"In a few days, the once-in-a-decade apprenticeship exchange will begin."
Hick was even more puzzled.
"Master, that once-a-decade apprentice exchange is a matter for those white wizards, and what does it have to do with our Silent Forest?"
At this point, Hick suddenly remembered something.
"Are you going to cause trouble like before?"
Professor Pelosi nodded, and then said:
"This time, things are different from before. Among those apprentices, there's one who's your target. Kill him and bring his body back. That's your mission!"
Hick seemed to understand something and cautiously asked, "Is that apprentice...?"
Professor Perot clearly understood what Hick meant and nodded.
"That is the key to regaining the relics of the previous Lord of Silence!"
Hick still didn't quite understand. He was just a mere apprentice; wouldn't it be easy for any qualified wizard to take him down?
Why send an apprentice like yourself?
So he voiced his doubts, because this was very unusual!
He suppressed his surging questions and cautiously spoke, "Master, I don't quite understand. Since the target is so crucial, why... not send a formal wizard to take action personally? I'm afraid my strength is insufficient, and I might delay the important matter..."
Professor Pelosi didn't keep anyone in suspense.
"It's precisely because you're just an apprentice, and because we dark wizards also participate in the decennial exchange meetings, that we can minimize the impact. Otherwise..."
At this point, Professor Perot gave a disdainful sneer.
"Those people from other factions aren't fools."
Hick realized that he had become a tool again!
"Moreover, this time, not only will the Silent Forest make a move, but other dark wizarding forces will too! As long as we make a big enough commotion, you'll be completely safe!"
Professor Perot looked at Hick with eyes full of anticipation!
