Chapter 16 Mind Magic
Chapter 16 Mind Magic
Su Ming opened the message sent by Jiang Shaoxu.
"Su Ming, have you seen the news?" That was all.
"I saw it. The Dark Night Lion Dog was killed by the post station commander," Su Ming replied.
A short while later, Jiang Shaoxu sent a message.
"Don't listen to those scary media reports. The Dark Night Lion Dog wasn't killed, but the post station commander was. If this hadn't been reported in advance and the ancient capital hadn't sent a magician to clean up the mess, Zhou City would have been massacred today."
Su Ming: "?"
"It's normal that you don't believe it. Listen to less media reports in the future. They have to say this in order to keep ordinary people in line with the idea that humans are more powerful than demons."
"In reality, demons have always been more powerful than humans, both in terms of territory and numbers."
Su Ming felt as if something was choking him, making it hard to breathe. Was the report the opposite of the actual situation?
Even powerful human magicians cannot kill overlord-level demons?
"Is that Night Lion Dog dead?"
"No, they escaped. The Ancient Capital Mage arrived too hastily; there weren't enough people to keep the Dark Night Lion Dog."
This sentence felt like a bloody scene, making one's eyes sting.
Even the top mages from the ancient capital couldn't kill the Dark Night Lionhound, yet the media reported that the Lionhound had been killed by the mage commander of Zhou City. The reality and the reports were vastly different.
Su Ming was already a magician, and he knew the power of magic, which was why he was even more shocked than ordinary people.
The position of commander of the Zhoucheng army's mages is not one that a mid-level mage can hold; it requires at least a high-level mage, or even a legendary super-level mage.
Jiang Shaoxu: "I'm not in Zhoucheng recently, so be careful. The demon sweep might have missed a few, so don't even think about killing them."
Su Ming: "Understood."
Looking at the messages on her phone, Jiang Shaoxu sensed that Su Ming's mood seemed a bit off.
I was terrified. That can't be right.
"Shaoxu, let's go." Someone called out to Jiang Shaoxu from ahead.
"We're here." Jiang Shaoxu put away her phone and followed the rest of the group.
……
Is Su Ming afraid? Probably not.
If the demons are powerful, then you can just cultivate to a higher level and use more powerful magic.
He wasn't afraid, but he couldn't accept that someone who had cultivated to the level of a high-level mage and sat in the position of the head of a city could be killed so casually.
He couldn't even be mourned, and it couldn't be said that he sacrificed himself fighting against demons.
Su Ming stayed at home. He wasn't stupid; he wouldn't play the hero and go out to fight demons. If he died, everything would be over.
I will never take action unless I am 100% certain.
Su Ming spent the rest of his time at home. Su Ming's family didn't have many relatives in Zhoucheng. His great-grandfather had fled here when he was a refugee. His great-grandfather was the only son in his family, as were his grandfather and father.
Therefore, Su Ming doesn't have any relatives.
This brings peace and quiet, although I sometimes feel lonely.
Holidays always seem to fly by. Perhaps due to the demonic attacks in the surrounding area, Su Ming still hasn't seen his father during this time.
Their schedules seemed to be constantly out of sync.
Su Ming's life after the start of the school year didn't change much. He continued to cultivate as usual, only with a few more classes on demons and monsters and practical classes.
While the Demon Lesson doesn't allow you to directly experience the terror of demons, practical experience can.
The water area created by the teacher could stop the iron man falling from the roof of the school building.
The teacher's radiance shines as brightly as the sun in the darkness.
The ice vines planted by the teachers can freeze the school's swimming pool.
The teacher's fire could burn the wooden figure to ashes in just a few seconds.
……
Students prefer practical classes to demon classes, as they can directly experience the power of magic and increase their interest in cultivation.
Interest is also a very important factor in magical training; one can only train better if one is interested.
Unfortunately, no lightning magic was seen.
Lightning magic is extremely rare, the most powerful elemental magic, and there are no lightning magicians in the school.
The lightning-type mages outside the school are all very busy, but they can also come to the school to give these students a tour when they have free time.
The only person they could count on was the one from Class 4.
The only lightning mage in this school.
However, he has not yet mastered the casting of lightning magic.
More than three months after the start of the semester, a practical lesson was organized by the school on short notice.
The instructor for the practical course is neither a school teacher nor an off-campus monk, but a student.
A student majoring in psychology.
Mind magic, or white magic, is extremely rare, even rarer than lightning magic. No mage in Zhou City possesses mind magic yet.
This practical lesson was also organized by the school to enhance its reputation.
To see for themselves what made the Mind Magic different, many highly respected mages from outside the school came, their faces filled with anticipation, eager to know how the Mind Magic differed from what was described in books.
The first-level skill in the Mind class is Ripple Soothing.
The book describes this skill as being able to stabilize the emotions of the person being used on.
A murderer who is in a volatile mood and could kill hostages at any moment will become extremely calm after being soothed, leaving not a trace of his rage.
In the wild, demons are always intent on killing humans. They are violent and savage, but if they are appeased, even demons will stop and temporarily lose their murderous intent towards humans.
Such an ability is simply a godsend when fighting demons. Imagine a demon that has been irritable and then calmed down, no longer harboring any murderous intent towards humans, or even letting down its guard. In such a situation, other spells would be 100% effective against a demon that is completely defenseless.
This is almost certainly fatal.
The Magic Association, the Hunter's Alliance, the school's teachers, and some members of the Aristocratic Alliance all arrived at the school.
Jiang Shaoxu stood in the center of the arena, facing a nearly berserk summoned beast that was baring its teeth at her.
Most of the people present were highly respected mages. Jiang Shaoxu's magic was mainly for them to see, and they didn't need any explanation. Therefore, Jiang Shaoxu only needed to cast a calming spell on the summoned beast.
The summoned beast was a ghost wolf, with three deep wounds on its muscular body, revealing exposed bone. A sliver of reason remained in its crimson eyes, and the summoning mage was working hard to control it, preventing it from going berserk.
"Please," the summoner said with a hint of pleading.
The Shadow Wolf was injured in a battle with the Dark Lionhound, whose claws contained a liquid that could cause anyone who came into contact with it to lose their mind.
The volatile liquid remained in the body of the Ghost Wolf. Although it had been treated, it had little effect. If he hadn't been trying to control the Ghost Wolf, it would have gone berserk long ago, and would have been killed by the city's monster-hunting team or the magic association.
Summoned beasts are the lifeblood of summoning mages. Losing a summoned beast can be a devastating blow to a summoning mage, and may even lead to a complete collapse.
After all, the soul can be damaged.
Jiang Shaoxu didn't speak, her tense little face full of seriousness. She hadn't yet reached the point where she could release magic at will.
Every single star needs to be carefully managed.
One…two…seven.
As the seven stars arranged themselves into a star trail, the trail was pink and very pale, giving a sense of peace.
This star trail winds upwards like a silken thread of stars.
Pink mist appeared on Jiang Shaoxu's hand. With a push forward, the pink mist, following Jiang Shaoxu's command, wafted towards the Ghost Wolf Beast.
The snarling, grimacing wolf beast began to calm down, no longer agitated. With a slight bend in its stance, the wolf beast lay down on the ground, its head resting on its forelegs.
It was exhausted, having fought a large number of Dark Lionhounds and then being unable to rest due to the raging liquid, constantly struggling to suppress itself.
Now it can't feel anything anymore, and its body has relaxed.
"Hurry!!" someone shouted from the Magic Association's location, and several people rushed out instantly. They approached the Ghost Wolf's massive body and began to treat it.
The summoning mage was overjoyed and wept tears of joy, knowing that his Shadow Wolf could be saved.
A deafening round of applause erupted at the scene, and people from several factions nodded in agreement. The mind-based system was indeed very powerful.
Fire and lightning magic are powerful, but mind magic has a completely different focus. Magic is not simply about who has the greatest power; it has to take into account all aspects. That's what magic is all about.
"Thank you, thank you so much."
"You're welcome." My head is a little dizzy.
Are there any side effects to using magic?
Sure enough, one shouldn't be too reckless when using magic for the first time.
Jiang Shaoxu swayed and fell backward helplessly.
Jiang Shaoxu felt as if she was being hugged and didn't fall to the ground.
The arms were strong and familiar, and they lifted Jiang Shaoxu up in one go.
Jiang Shaoxu clutched her clothes and nuzzled her head against the man's chest like a kitten.
Jiang Shaoxu knew who this person was.
