Chapter 283: Chapter: 283 I was Vivian.
Vivian stayed silent for a moment, as if he was searching for the right words. His eyes were calm, but there was something deep inside them, like he was looking far away, somewhere only he could see.
"I don't know how I continued," he said slowly. "Even now… when I try to remember that feeling… it feels like a dream."
He paused for a moment, his gaze lowering slightly.
"But at the same time… it was real."
His voice became quieter, more thoughtful.
"It was such a strange state… something that is very hard to believe. Even for me… it still feels unreal."
He took a slow breath.
"And what feels even more strange…" he continued, "…is that I didn't die. I stayed in the same place… without moving at all… for four long years."
Charlotte's brows slowly frowned as she listened.
She had never heard this before.
He had never told her where he went, or what he experienced. And she had never asked. She simply trusted him.
But now, hearing this for the first time, a small shock passed through her heart.
Still, she didn't interrupt him.
She stayed quiet, her arms and legs still gently wrapped around him, holding him close.
Vivian continued, his voice steady.
"You see… when I sat there… my consciousness slowly withdrew from the real world."
His eyes turned distant again as he spoke.
"It felt like I was no longer inside my body."
He paused briefly, letting the words settle.
"My consciousness left my body… and entered a very strange state. A place… or maybe not even a place… I don't know how to describe it."
Charlotte listened carefully, her face soft but serious.
"There… I experienced something that no human ever could…" he said, then stopped for a moment, waiting.
"Hm…" Charlotte moved slightly closer to him, her body pressing gently against his. "What did you experience?" she asked softly.
Her hand reached up and slowly patted his hair, her touch warm and gentle.
Vivian stayed quiet for a few seconds, thinking.
"It's… very hard to explain," he said after a while. "What I felt there… it was very complex."
He closed his eyes slightly, trying to recall it.
"It was like… I was nothing… and everything at the same time."
His voice was calm, but there was a deep feeling behind it.
"At one moment… I felt like I was something vast… like a huge ocean that had no end."
He paused.
"And in the next moment… I was just a small drop of water."
Charlotte listened without speaking, her hand still gently moving through his hair.
"And it didn't stop there," Vivian continued. "That feeling… it kept repeating again and again."
He frowned slightly.
"I don't know how much time passed there. It could have been years… or even more. I only remember the feeling of being everything… and nothing… over and over again."
Charlotte let out a soft breath.
"It sounds like a strange experience," she said quietly, a small smile forming on her lips.
"Yeah…" Vivian nodded slowly. "It really was."
"But… that wasn't the end," he added.
Charlotte's eyes focused on him again.
Vivian continued, his voice becoming a little more serious.
"After that… I started to feel something else."
He looked down slightly.
"I became… elements."
Charlotte blinked once, but didn't interrupt.
"Fire… water… air… and more," he said slowly. "It was not like I was just seeing them… it was like I was becoming them."
He paused again, trying to find simple words.
"It felt like a will… something that pushed me to experience them."
His voice became softer.
"I started to understand them… slowly… little by little. It was not like learning with words… it was like feeling everything directly."
He took a slow breath.
"It was like… I was the elements themselves."
Charlotte stayed quiet, her expression calm but thoughtful.
Vivian slightly shook his head.
"Even now… I still can't fully explain it," he admitted. "But somehow… I understood them."
He looked at her again.
"And maybe… that's the reason why… when I reached the Grandmaster stage… I had five elements."
Charlotte's eyes widened just a little.
"Usually… people only have one main element when they reach that stage," Vivian said calmly.
"But I had five."
He fell silent after that, the memory slowly fading from his mind as he returned to the present.
The room became quiet again, filled only with their soft breathing and the warmth they shared.
"Then… what happened after that?" Charlotte asked after a short pause.
Her voice was soft, but there was clear curiosity in it.
Her fingers were still gently moving through his hair, slow and steady, as if helping him stay calm while he spoke.
Vivian gave a small nod.
"After that…" he began, his voice quiet, "I experienced even more."
He looked slightly ahead, his eyes unfocused, as if the memories were playing again in his mind.
"I became mountains… sand… and many other things."
His tone was steady, but there was a faint weight behind his words.
"It wasn't just seeing them… I truly became them. I could feel everything. The stillness… the time passing… the slow changes."
Charlotte listened silently, her expression soft.
"And at the end of it…" Vivian continued, "I became animals."
There was a brief pause before he spoke again.
"I lived the life of many animals," he said slowly. "From something as small as an ant… to something as large as an elephant."
His fingers moved slightly, as if remembering those distant sensations.
"I felt everything they felt. Their hunger… their fear… their struggle to survive."
His voice grew quieter.
"And in the end…"
He stopped for a moment, then finished,
"I died as a horse."
A faint shadow passed over his face. His expression turned a little dim, a little distant.
Charlotte noticed it at once.
Vivian lowered his gaze slightly. The memories of those lives still carried feelings inside him. Feelings that had not fully faded, even now.
"It was… a very unique experience," he said softly.
"But… the last part…"
He paused again, his brows tightening just a little.
"…that left a deep mark on me."
Charlotte didn't interrupt. She simply stayed close, her presence calm and warm.
Vivian slowly lifted his head again.
"Then… at the very end of everything…" he said, "I became human again."
Charlotte's lips curved into a soft smile as she heard that.
"You came back as a human, huh?" she said with a light chuckle.
Her tone sounded playful, but her eyes held a small, hidden curiosity.
"Then… you didn't go chasing after some girl there, did you?" she added lightly.
She kept her tone cheerful, almost teasing.
But Vivian knew her well.
He understood what she meant without her saying it directly.
If he said no, she would stay relaxed, maybe even tease him more.
But if he said otherwise…
Things would not stay this calm.
Vivian remained quiet for a moment.
Then he spoke.
"I was human again…" he said slowly.
Charlotte tilted her head slightly, waiting.
"…but not someone else."
She blinked once.
"Oh?" she asked, her curiosity growing. "Then who were you?"
Vivian looked at her.
His voice was calm, but clear.
"I was Vivian."
